My Mallorca Trip from Dublin
Mallorca was one of those trips where I expected sun, beaches and a nice hotel, but the island gave much more than that. I travelled from Dublin to Palma de Mallorca, and the flight took around 2.5 hours. It is short, easy and perfect if you want a proper Mediterranean escape without spending the whole day travelling.
We landed at Palma de Mallorca Airport and took an Uber to Arenal, where our hotel was located. Because we arrived at night, the fare was higher than usual and cost €27. Still, after a late flight, it was the easiest option.

Arenal was a practical base for this trip. It is close to the beach, has restaurants, shops, buses and easy access to Palma. The hotel worked well because we were not planning to sit inside all day — Mallorca is too beautiful for that.

If you only want to visit Palma, buses are enough. Bus 25 from Arenal takes you directly to Palma city centre for only €2. But if you want to see hidden beaches, mountain roads, caves and viewpoints, rent a car. That is where Mallorca becomes completely different.

We rented a car through Wiber Rent a Car, and the price surprised me. We got a completely new SUV for €55 per day, with no deposit and no credit card blocked for security. With a car, you can visit places that buses do not reach properly. You can stop at viewpoints, drive through mountain roads, find hidden beaches and build your own route.

Palma is not just a place to pass through after landing. It is worth giving it a full day. The old town has narrow streets, cafés, small shops, stone buildings and that warm Mediterranean city feeling.
The most impressive place is Palma Cathedral, also known as La Seu. It stands right by the sea and looks powerful from every angle. Bellver Castle is another place worth visiting because it gives you a wide view over the city, harbour and sea.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip was the train ride to Sóller. We booked it through GetYourGuide. The old wooden train takes you from Palma through the mountains, tunnels and orange valleys towards Sóller. It does not feel like normal transport. It feels like part of the experience.

The road to Sa Calobra was one of the strongest memories from Mallorca. The route goes through the Tramuntana mountains, with sharp turns, high cliffs and viewpoints that make you want to stop every few minutes. This is not just a road. It is an attraction by itself.
Drach Caves
Drach Caves were completely different from the beaches and mountains. Inside, it feels cool, quiet and almost unreal. You walk through huge cave chambers with rock formations that took thousands of years to form. The underground lake is the most beautiful part.

Start early. This route is long, but if you love driving, mountains and views, it is one of the best ways to see Mallorca. If you have only one car rental day, do not waste it on places you can reach by bus. Use the car for mountains, hidden beaches and viewpoints.

My Honest Opinion About Mallorca
Mallorca surprised me because it is not only about lying on the beach. Yes, the beaches are beautiful, but the island becomes much more interesting when you start moving around. Palma gives history and city life. Sóller gives old train charm and mountain views. Sa Calobra gives drama. Drach Caves give something mysterious.
If you visit Mallorca and stay only around one hotel, you will see maybe 20% of the island. Rent a car, wake up early and drive. That is when Mallorca shows its real face.
