Dubai, UAE – Smart Travel Guide 2025
A real travel story, written on the road
I flew from Dublin to Dubai on a direct flight — about 7 hours door to door. Long enough to relax, short enough to arrive excited. Dubai International Airport is huge, but surprisingly clear and easy to navigate. Signage is logical, queues move fast, and within minutes you’re on your way.
Where we stayed & first impressions
We checked into a hotel in Dubai Marina — one of the most popular areas for visitors. Marina is lively but comfortable: skyscrapers, cafés, beach walks, and that feeling that everything is happening right now. From there, the city opens up easily, including Downtown and the area near Burj Khalifa.

Christmas & New Year’s Eve — unforgettable
I spent Christmas and welcomed the New Year in Dubai, and it was the most impressive celebration I’ve experienced. We welcomed the New Year on a boat, right in front of Burj Khalifa — first line, no filters, no screens. Fireworks exploded above the skyline, perfectly timed, massive, elegant.
On board: a full evening program, excellent food, non-alcoholic drinks, great atmosphere. Calm, classy, and joyful. One of those moments that stay with you.

Dubai Mall — a city inside a city
Dubai Mall left a huge impression. It’s so big that one day is not enough to see it properly. Shopping, restaurants, aquarium, fountains outside — you walk and walk, and it still doesn’t end. Even if you’re not into shopping, it’s an experience on its own.

Getting around & prices
Taxis in Dubai are cheap, clean, and everywhere. We used them most of the time — no stress, no waiting, no confusion. Prices didn’t scare us at all, especially compared to other global cities.
Average daily costs (realistic):
Metro ride: €1–3
Coffee: €3–5
Mall food court meal: €7–12
Mid-range dinner: €15–30
Taxi ride in the city: €5–10
Easy day trip to Abu Dhabi
A one-day trip to Abu Dhabi is absolutely worth it. The highlight is Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque — peaceful, majestic, unforgettable. You can easily combine several landmarks in one day without rushing.

Dubai is big, fast, polished — and unforgettable. It’s not just luxury; it’s contrast, comfort, and scale done right. If this city impressed you with its speed and size, a place like Malta offers the opposite: compact, historic, sun-soaked, and calm. Different rhythm, same travel magic.
