SHARM EL SHEIKH – WHERE I FINALLY LEARNED TO SLOW DOWN

I didn’t come to Sharm El Sheikh looking for adventure or busy sightseeing days. I came tired. Tired of constant movement, grey skies, rushing from one place to another. And from the very first evening, I knew this place was going to give me exactly what I needed — without asking anything in return.

Sharm doesn’t announce itself loudly. It doesn’t try to impress you the moment you arrive. Instead, it gently changes your rhythm. The air feels warmer, softer. The light is brighter but calm. Even your thoughts seem to slow down without effort. For the first time in a long while, I felt no need to rush anywhere.

A PLACE THAT GIVES YOU SPACE TO BREATHE

What struck me most about Sharm El Sheikh is how much space it gives you — mentally and physically. There’s no pressure to see everything, no feeling that you’re missing out if you stay still. Mornings here are quiet. The day begins slowly, often with sunlight reflecting off the sea and a gentle warmth that already feels comforting, even in winter.

Unlike big cities or overpacked destinations, Sharm doesn’t demand your attention. It allows you to exist without noise. Without schedules. Without expectations. And that, in itself, feels like luxury.

EVERYDAY MOMENTS AND THE FEELING OF EASE

Daily life in Sharm felt surprisingly easy and affordable. I never had to think twice about stopping for coffee, fresh juice, or sitting down for a meal. Prices are low compared to Europe, but the comfort level is high. You enjoy things freely, without that quiet stress of constantly calculating expenses.

One of my favorite routines became sitting outside in the morning with a coffee or fresh juice, feeling the warmth on my skin while much of Europe was still cold and grey. Even small moments like this felt special — not because they were extravagant, but because they were unhurried.

This is the kind of place where your money stretches, but more importantly, where your energy does too.

GETTING AROUND WITHOUT THINKING TOO MUCH

Sharm El Sheikh is spread out, but moving around is effortless. Taxis are everywhere, rides are short, and prices are low. Many hotels offer transfers, which makes everything even simpler. I never once felt lost or stressed about logistics.

And that’s the beauty of it — you don’t need to plan. You don’t need to organize every detail. The place takes care of you in a quiet, reassuring way.

WEATHER THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

One of the biggest reasons I would return to Sharm again and again is the weather. Even in winter, days are warm and sunny, usually around 20–25°C. Evenings are comfortable, not cold. The sea remains inviting all year round.

Visiting Sharm during winter or early spring feels like a gift to yourself. While others are wrapped in coats, you’re walking in the sun, breathing warm air, and feeling your body relax day by day.

EXPERIENCES THAT STAY WITH ME

The Red Sea is the soul of Sharm El Sheikh. Snorkeling here was one of those experiences that stays with you long after you leave. The water is incredibly clear, the coral reefs full of color, and the marine life feels almost unreal. Even if you’ve never snorkeled before, this is the place where you feel safe trying.

Boat trips on the Red Sea were equally calming. Endless blue water, gentle waves, silence broken only by the sound of the boat. These were moments where I didn’t take photos — I just watched, breathed, and stayed present.

One evening, I joined a desert safari at sunset, and it completely changed my perception of Egypt. The stillness of the desert, the colors shifting with the light, and the vast open space felt deeply grounding. It was the perfect contrast to the sea — quiet, powerful, and humbling.

Ras Mohammed National Park – where the Red Sea is at its wildest
Ras Mohammed National Park is one of those places that reminds you how powerful nature can be. This protected marine reserve is where the Red Sea truly shows its best side — dramatic coral walls, vibrant fish, and water so clear it feels unreal. Snorkeling here felt different from anywhere else: richer colors, more life, more depth.

What makes Ras Mohammed special is the balance between untouched nature and accessibility. You don’t need to be an experienced diver to enjoy it — even floating on the surface, the underwater world unfolds right beneath you. It’s peaceful, breathtaking, and humbling all at once.

This trip is a must because it lets you experience the Red Sea in its purest form — no resorts, no noise, just nature doing what it does best.

WHERE I STAYED AND WHY IT MATTERED

Sharm El Sheikh is known for its resorts, and now I understand why. Hotels here are built for comfort and rest. Private beaches, pools, generous spaces, and attentive service make it easy to truly switch off.

What impressed me most was the value. The level of service and comfort you receive here would cost significantly more in many other destinations. Luxury feels accessible, not distant or reserved for special occasions.

FINAL THOUGHTS – WHY SHARM STAYED WITH ME

Sharm El Sheikh isn’t about ticking attractions off a list. It’s about how you feel when you wake up in the morning. Calm. Warm. Rested. Clear-headed.

I would recommend Sharm to anyone who feels overwhelmed, tired, or simply in need of a pause. It’s a place where doing less gives you more — more energy, more clarity, and a deeper appreciation for simple, quiet moments.

This is where I went to slow down.
And it worked.
